Hispanic Ministry

Ministerio para la Comunidad Latina
(scroll down for the English Version)

Ministry for the Latino Community

In the Newark/Palmyra/Lyons area there are a great number of Latinos.  At St. Michael Parish we minister to the Latinos through home visits, and visiting and taking Communion to the sick and infirm. Also there is preparation of families for the Baptism of their children, and preparation of couples for Matrimony.  For young girls 15 years of age there is a preparation for, as well as the celebration of her quinceañera. Also at the parish and at times with other parishes there are special times or days of prayer and reflection.  On-going activities offered to our community members in the chapel are:

  •           Weekly faith-sharing group, usually based on Scripture: Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
  •           Monthly Mass in Spanish, usually the last Friday of the month at 7:00 p. m.
  •           Daily praying of the rosary in community during the months of May and October, 7:00 p. m.
